Assignment

This individual assignment consists of 2 parts that must be completed. The due dates:

  • Part 1: Week 6 (11 August 2017)
  • Part 2: Week 12 (8 September 2017)

Total marks: (Part 1) 5% + (Part 2) 5% = Total 10%

Assignment Part 1 Title: required to analyse and compare among the 3 families of operating systems in term of its operability, key features, key strengths, key weaknesses and the reason( of the common computer OSs – the Windows, the Mac and the Linux/Unix

Description:

You are required to analyse and compare among the 3 families of operating systems in term of its operability, key features, key strengths, key weaknesses and the reason(s) (the competitive edge(s)) for each family which could clearly differentiate between one another. Your report should be at least 10 pages (more are OK) single spaced hand-written and must articulate the pros and cons of each operating system with respect to the other. The content should be subdivided into sections based on the OS being compared (i.e. a new page for each OS). Images and tables may be included in your explanation but should not constitute more than 1 page of your report.

Assignment Part 2 Title: Comparative case study of the common OSs for mobile devices – the Android and the iOS.

Description:

You are required to analyse and compare among the 2 families of operating systems in term of its operability, key features, key strengths, key weaknesses and the reason(s) (the competitive edge(s)) for each family which could clearly differentiate between one another. Your report should be at least 6 pages (more are OK) single spaced hand-written and must articulate the pros and cons of each operating system with respect to the other. The content should be subdivided into sections based on the OS being compared (i.e. a new page for each OS). Images and tables may be included in your explanation but should not constitute more than 1 page of your report.

General suggestion on format of both your reports:

  • Introduction stating all the OSs for comparison
  • Content
    1. <OS 1>
    2. <OS 2>
  • Conclusion (A table comparing all the discussed OSs) – should be able to answer the question “Which OS should I choose for my computer/mobile device?”
  • Brief Reference/Bibliography
