ISCG8040 Enterprise Network Information Security Management is concerned with PREPARATION AND PRESENTATION OF A REPORT on the analysis, design and management of an enterprise network information security system of an organisation (medium or large) of your choice after the approval of the organisation by your tutor.  Where a student does not find an organisation, the Progressive Hospital Case study placed ISCG8040 Enterprise Network Information Security Managementunder the assignment tab of the course Moodle 8040 web site will be considered. The objectives for this assignment are as under:

  1. Determine and present the enterprise network information security requirements.
  2. Design security architecture for enterprise networks.
  3. Manage and control information security in enterprise networks.

Due Dates

The soft copy of the report is due by midnight 21Oct 2016 and the hardcopy by Tuesday 25 Oct 2016 midday. The presentation for this part will be on 30October 2016 during Session 8 of the course.

Please note that late submissions of the report will not be marked. 

Assignment Tasks

The organisation selected should be one that has concern for its enterprise network information security. Presume that you have been employed as the Information security Manager of the organisation selected and are expected to come up with a comprehensive security set up for the organisation covering the below mentioned at the very minimum:

  • Determination and presentation of the enterprise network information security requirements.
  • Design of security architecture for the enterprise network.
  • Design for management and control of information security in the enterprise network.

Issues related to configuration of existing as well as the proposed new systems, covering additional security / redundancy architectural aspects along with the necessary protocols should be clearly mentioned.

Assumptions being made for the network information security requirements analysis, the proposed security architecture design and any physical, procedural security design should be clearly listed.  

Report (weighting 75%)

You are to make a reportof no more than 7000 words. The emphasis of the report should be on analysis, evaluation, and synthesis of knowledge of business and information security. 

Presentation (weighting 25%)

A presentation for about 7 to 8 minutes will be made by the individual student.  Since the presentation will be peer evaluated, your active participation is essential.

Marks  Schedule:

Report: 75 Marks

  1. Presentation and layout-  5 marks
  2. Determination and presentation of network information security requirements- 30 marks
  3. Design of security architecture for the enterprise network- 25 marks
  1. Design for management and control of information security in the network- 15 marks

Presentation: 25 Marks

  1. Presentation delivery and use of audio visual aids- 3 marks
  2. Information security requirements clearly stated- 8 marks
  3. Security architecture for the enterprise network displayed and explained- 6 marks
  4. Management and control set up for information security in the network- 5 marks
  5. Handling of questions- 3 marks

Note

Marks may be deducted for failure to follow the Faculty of Business Guidelines for Writing and Presenting Assessment Items, in particular sections 7 and 8 (referencing and plagiarism). Plagiarism will be reported to the Programme Leader who may award zero marks or refer the matter to the Faculty Discipline Committee, who have powers of suspension/exclusion. A “soft” copy of the assignment must be submitted via the turnitin.com website(ID 2494493).  A “hard” copy of the assignment must also be submitted to the Tutor or his office, either by post or with arrangement with your tutor, Room 3001, Building 183.  Softcopy of the report must be received by midnight on 21 Oct 2016and the hardcopy by midday on 25 Oct 2016.
