- Executive Summary:
Due to dynamic changes and development in the global business environment, it has become an emerging requirement for the companies to adopt course of diversification or expansion in their business in order to meet the needs and demands of the market. Similarly, PepsiCo Inc. is also proposing expansion in their business by introducing snacks division along with fast food chains. The company has conducted a survey recently and they have found that there is an emerging need of ready to eat foods in the market. Due to busy schedule, people are willing to invest as much less time in the kitchen as possible. Plus, with ready to eat food they also want their food to be nutritious which can reciprocate their health consciousness level. Thus, PepsiCo has adopted an idea of new business model which will be having the capacity to meet up the demands of the consumers.

The most important issue was the existing level of competition in the food market. Mc Donald’s, KFC are well known brands and are big players in the field of fast food centres. Now, the company perceives it to be quite challenging to enter into the food market with an aim to gain competitive advantage. But, with an effective organizational, marketing and implementation strategy they will be able to have an edge in this global market. This project will underline significant aspects as how PepsiCo, Inc. is planning to expand their division in this global market.
- Company’s Summary:
Company’s overview and its history: Pepsi was newly introduced as Brad’s Drink during the time period of 1890s in North Carolina, New York. Later, during 1898, it was named as “Pepsi-Cola” The reason behind such name was due to pepsin and kola nuts which were used in the recipe of Pepsi-Cola. Previously, Bradham used to manufacture Pepsi-Cola on a smaller domain but during 1903, he shifted his business to a warehouse. Hence onwards, Pepsi has marked huge success in the soft drink industry. The company has also facilitated rigorous advertisement during those times where it had a tagline of “Delicious and Healthful”. Though, its trademark has gone into significant changes right from the time period of 1902, 1905 and in 2014, the company is quite famous in North America as Pepsi-Cola from the time period of 2014. Its history highlights one significant fact that the company is always thinking of diversification and expanding its business. And, this is one of the reasons why Pepsi had planned to diversify its course of operations into snacks division. One renowned fact in the time of history was that Pepsi-Cola had undergone into merger with Frito-Lay and hence onwards it was known as PepsiCo, Inc (“Pepsi Store – History of the Birthplace of Pepsi”, n.d.).
