The ownership interest of a company is called its equity (Geske, Subrahmanyam & Zhou, 2014). The following items are present in the equity section of Primary Health Care Limited and Ramsay Health Care Limited –

The above items are listed in Primary Health Care and Ramsay Health Care’s equity. The share issued and subscribed by investors are called issued capital whole treasury shares are the ones that a company issued it has bought it back (Baker & Xuan, 2016). All these items can be seen to be changing over the last two years in Primary Health Care and Ramsay Health Care except for changes in issued capital, as no shares have been issued further in the companies. Executive Summary
Evidence shows that in order to deliver sustainable international development we must be able to understand and work with its politics. Governance describes the way countries and societies manage their affairs politically and the way power and authority are exercised. For the poorest and most vulnerable, the difference that good, or particularly bad, governance, makes to their lives is profound: the inability of government institutions to prevent conflict, provide basic security, or basic services can have life-or-death consequences; lack of opportunity can prevent generations of poor families from lifting themselves out of poverty; and the inability to grow economically and collect taxes can keep countries trapped in a cycle of aid-dependency. Understanding governance, therefore, is central to achieving development and ending conflict. During the 1990s donors came to realise that development required better ‘governance’, and DFID recognised early on the need to work with the research community to identify ways of improving governance for better development outcomes.

Today, most organizations do not function the same way as they did ten or maybe twenty years back. Today, most organizations feel the need to be responsive and flexible to the changing marketplace as well as the global economic environment. To be responsive to the marketplace, an organization needs to undergo timely changes or transformations. For the smooth transformation or change within any organization, it is important to hand over the responsibility to a reliable leader as leaders play a critical role in the success of any transformational program. If the leader does not have the ability to display result-oriented behavior or action during the crucial phase when the organization is witnessing a change, then he/she may cause a great deal of wastage of energy, money and time and will also create an additional burden on the company’s employees.(Jacobs, 1996)

Both primary and secondary research methods are applied in the given study. The use of secondary resources is more prevalent in the literature review where the use of academic journals, magazines, newspapers, public libraries has been made to find out literature in relation to the given research problem (Moskovsky, 2009).

A simple primary research methodology has been applied for the purpose of this study. Two questionnaires (Please Refer to Appendix A and Appendix B for the detailed questionnaire used) were used and distributed amongst the faculty members as a part of a small scale study. The respondents were randomly selected. The main source of gathering information was YIC website using which the questionnaire was e-mailed to the randomly selected faculty members and all the respondents and the participants were EFL teachers in Saudi. A total of only 13 respondents participated and were considered for the purpose of findings and analysis in this study. This leaves ample scope for more research in this given domain as a small number of respondents are certainly not enough to provide full proof evidence pertaining to the credibility of the research.

Longevity Operation

This paper serves two purposes. First, it analyses the internal and the external operating environment of Les Mills International in the context of the theory of uniqueness of small businesses. Secondly, it provides recommendations based on the analysis done in the first part using marketing and management theories applicable to operation of business in the international arena. Agency theory presents a unique proposition in relation to the operations of small businesses.

Management theory has focused on the problems that arise due to separation of ownership from management in conventional corporates; this has led to emergence of the agency theory. The agency problem is however not existent in small businesses because of the fusion of management with ownership. This presents special challenges for stakeholders and the firm. For example, the lack of transparency in operation and the scantiness of information is a concern for stakeholders in these small businesses. Therefore, businesses like LMI need to come up with measures to mitigate such problems.

Labour Flexibility Job Security | Flexible Jobs | Labor Definition Economics

Flexicurity is a portmanteaucombining two words labour flexibility and job security. It 1implies a blend of social security and high flexibility in the labour market. Flexicurity can be explained using two views of the labour market. That is, employees’ view of labour market and theview of employers about the labour market. Employees need an assurance of job security, employment security and income security. On the other hand, employers require some levelof flexibility that gives them room for functional and wage adjustment. This is important since employers need to respond to changing conditions from time to time to maintain competitiveness and efficiency.
The aim of flexicurity is to combine job security of the employee with labour market relations thereby generating economic adjustment opportunities for employers. These two aspectsare balanced in a way, establishing a mutually beneficialstructure leading to a situation where the employee is provided with adequate security and the employer is afforded opportunities for economic adjustment. Pay Gap Australia | Wages Between Gender | Wage Gap Law

Factors that contribute to the pay gap in Australia and why the difference is more significant in some industry sectors than others.
The labor market is composed participants who are basically men and women. The rewards of the labor market are wages. The concept of wages is complex and has to be considered critically by employers. One of the greatest concerns in the labor market has been the disparities in the mean income between men and women. Differences between wages received by participants in the labor market is measured by the gender pay gap.The differences arises due to various aspects that differ from one organization to the next(Cohen 2007). In Australia for example, the wages pay gap is computed on the basis of full-time weekly earnings excluding overtime and salary sacrificed pay. Currently, the wage pay gap in Australia stands at 17.5%. The gap has been fluctuating with small margins but the figure has remained unchanged overtime. Differences in income levels of men and women are, for this reason, an important economic and industrial aspect worth consideration.
In order to address the disparities in the pay gaps, it is important to examine the possible reasons as to the existence of remunerationdifferences between men and women. Why does the difference exist? Well, the answer to such a query is often critical and complex. However, thereal explanation is the fact that there exist a range of factors responsible for the occurrence of the pay gaps. These factors range from historical, social, behavioral and labor market factors (Clark & Drinkwater 2007). These factors have collectively have led to pay gap differences. More often than not, the causes of gender pay gap are usually intertwined and related. In this view, it can be noted that women have been the primary victims of scanty pay. Most of the women earn less

Cyberbullying Bully Attacks | Bullying And Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying Bully Attacks | Bullying And Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying Bully Attacks | Bullying And Cyberbullying

Bullying is a by-product of the capitalist society that advocates for personal advancement over any other goals. From a young age, children are encouraged to be the best they can be. Instincts push people to achieve these results at any cost. The overriding instinct in most instances is personal survival and the need to dominate others. If an individual does not have the right values, they devise ways to intimidate othersout of the competition. In the past incidents of bullying were limited to the relatively few cases of face-to-face bullying. All this has changed in the information age. Proliferation of communication devices combined with the internet provides fertile ground for bullying. One reason that could explain the rise in Cyberbullying is the anonymity that the internet affords. People know that they do not have to account for their actions online and therefore tend to be more belligerent than usual. In the past the threat of physical confrontation in bullying was always present, however, the internet has largely diminished that threat.

  1. Assessment 1 Details

5.1          Task

A review of Corporate Risk Failure - AIB/Allfirst (2002)

Banking failures due to weaknesses in risk management were exposed by the Global Financial Crisis in 2007-08. However, cases before this are informative as they highlight the importance of learning from business history and applying a critical perspective to continuing failures.

In 2002 John Rusnak, a "lone wolf" currency trader at Allfirst, racked up losses of almost US$700 million. It was Ireland's biggest banking scandal, and the fourth-biggest banking scandal in the world, at the time when it came to light. External advisors, law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz reviewed the Allfirst treasury operation and produced a report (better known as the Ludwig report) providing advice to the boards of Allfirst and its parent, Allied Irish Banks (AIB).

You are given this report and three additional case studies on AIB/Allfirst, highlighting different perspectives: corporate governance, e-risk and financial risk.

You are required to:

  • Produce an assessment of the AIB/Allfirst failure with specific reference to its risk management
  • Draw on the evidence provided (the report and 3 case studies)
  • Ensure that you draw directly on the course and the teaching of each week to apply a corporate risk management perspective.
  • Use appropriate models, frameworks and example.
  • Use a range of academic sources for your report.
  • Use Harvard referencing throughout for your citations and the reference list.
  • Focus on analysis from the perspective of (a) Assessment of risk, (b) Risk response and (c) Risk governance and regulatory risk.

The assessment should be in the form of a report with the following structure:

  1. Introduction

Provide an overview of:

  1. The AIB/Allfirst failure
  1. A summary of the key reasons why Allfirst failed – based on the literature.
  1. Assessment of risk
  1. Identify key risks and
  1. Classify these risks into categories - use recognised frameworks and models.
  1. Risk response
  1. Review how AIB/Allfirst responded to its risk exposure and/or
  1. Identify any gaps and shortfalls in its approach by critically applying models and frameworks designed to measure and model different business risks
  1. Highlight any relevant aspects of Risk governance and regulatory risk
  1. Findings and conclusions
  1. Summarise the key points that explain why and how AIB/Allfirst failed from a risk management perspective
  1. Analyse, synthesise and evaluate the data to establish solutions
  1. Make recommendations to minimise the possibility of such failures happening in the future.

5.2          Submission requirements

You are required to submit this assignment by Friday/09 March 2018/3pm. You must submit your assignment by using the Turnitin gateway in the module’s Canvas site.

Please Note: The act of submitting your work electronically will be taken as an acceptance of the Declaration of Authorship (see Appendix 2).

  1. Extensions and Mitigating Circumstances

Applications for extensions and mitigating circumstances, with supporting evidence (such as medical certificates), should be made through the Student Self-service Portal (SSP).

6.1          Extensions

If a student experiences unforeseen circumstances that may prevent the student submitting an assignment at the first opportunity, it is possible to request an extension of up to two weeks. The length of extension requested will be evaluated by the Academic Administrator.

LSBM302 AB1 Ludwig Report Allied Irish Bank Currency

LSBM302 AB1 Ludwig Report on Allied Irish Bank Currency
OVERVIEW

This report is submitted by Promontory Financial Group LLC and the law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz to advise the Boards of Directors of Allied Irish Banks, p.l.c. (“AIB”), Allfirst Financial Inc., and Allfirst Bank with respect to losses sustained by Allfirst Financial Inc. and Allfirst Bank (together “Allfirst”) in foreign exchange trading. The purpose of this report is to advise the Boards in connection with the questions that they have referred to us for our review and advice and it is not intended to represent the definitive report on the matters set forth herein. This report should be regarded as preliminary, because significant leads remain to be pursued. Indeed, the person primarily responsible for these losses, John M. Rusnak, has thus far refused to speak with us, and we have not had an opportunity to talk to the foreign currency traders with whom Mr. Rusnak dealt.

Our inquiry was authorized by the AIB Board of Directors on February 8, 2002. Thus far, we have interviewed approximately 55 present and former employees of AIB and Allfirst and have reviewed a substantial volume of electronic records and thousands of pages of printed documents. Given the complexity of the matter and the volume of materials to be reviewed, however, our interviews and review of the electronic and documentary record are not complete. We have emphasized from the outset that we believed that 30 days was inadequate to render a comprehensive report. Nevertheless, we understand the Boards’ need for timely guidance. Therefore, our work to date has focused primarily on the Allfirst treasury operation and, as this report reflects, we have drawn conclusions in that regard. Although we have confidence in our preliminary conclusions, it is likely that further inquiry will uncover additional material information or provide further clarification and insight into those events and practices of which we are aware.

And he does so, by bullying his subordinates, intimidating his colleagues, threatening his supervisors, bribing his counter-parties, forging documents, falsifying the data, and betting more and more after having lost the most. A perfect example of "escalation of commitment". A fantastic case of complacence over compliance. This is only the first reaction: Sensationalism ends here. Economic Environments Assignment Help

Economic Environments Assignment Help

 Introduction

Economic Environments Assignment Help proper strategy for the growth and success of a business can only be formulated and adopted if the internal and the external environments related to the economic aspect of that business organization are thoroughly analyzed and evaluated. The analysis of the internal environment should be conducted on the basis of the strengths and weaknesses of that environment. Whereas the analysis of the internal environment may seem to be a rather simple and straightforward job for the organizations, the analysis of the external environment is quite complex and laden with a number of peculiarities. This is because of the fact that the analysis of the external environment should not only be based on the general analysis of the external environment but also on the critical understanding of the market competition, the competitive entities, the viability of the implemented strategies to handle the level of competition, and the threats and opportunities involved in the scenario that is being analyzed(De Giovanni, 2012) . Therefore, it is a critical process which needs immense effort. However, successful business strategies can be adapted and developed by the collection of proper analysis of both the internal and the external economic environments related to an organization. Furthermore, it is also important for an organization to properly identify and evaluate the core resources of the organization, the fields of the core competency, the level of the capability, thorough analysis of the value chain and its relationship with the capabilities and the available resources of that organization (Menguc, Auh, & Ozanne, 2009). This paper attempts to critically analyze the internal and the external economic environment of the Apple Inc., a leading brand from the information technology sector on the global scenario, in order to develop a proper understanding of the impact of these environments on the organizational operations of the company and how the potential strategies can be developed and implemented in to properly handle the implications and ensure the organizational success.

They want to leave the farm in equal shares to their three adult children. However, when you look at the certificate of title to the farm you discover the farm is actually owned by their company Beneli Farming Pty Ltd. Ben and Lilian do, however, own all the shares in the company. Nevertheless, they cannot leave the farm to their children in their wills. To help Ben and Lilian understand this conclusion, prepare a letter of advice for Ben and Lilian explaining to them the nature of a company and what they actually own as members of the company. Make sure you refer to relevant cases and legislation to support your explanation.

City London After Brexit

City London After Brexit Simeon Djankov, executive director of the Financial Markets Group at the London School of Economics, was deputy prime minister and minister of finance of Bulgaria from 2009 to 2013. He is also nonresident senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. Iwona Borovik provided excellent research assistance. William Cline, Egor Gornostay, Cameron Fletcher, Jacob Funk Kirkegaard, Marcus Noland, Nicolas Véron, and Steve Weisman provided useful comments.

In March 2017 the UK government will apply for Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty to end its membership in the European Union. This unprecedented step follows the June 23, 2016, UK referendum on the country’s exit from the European Union (dubbed Brexit), the results of which surprised many economists. Business leaders had warned about the negative effects of EU departure on the UK and European economies, and specifically on the City of London. Senior bankers threatened to leave the City if Brexit took place,1 because it will deprive UK-based financial institutions of free access to EU clients and markets.

The City of London may lose up to £18 billion in revenue and up to 30,000 jobs by leaving the single market (Oliver Wyman 2016). The analysis in this brief suggests that these estimates account for about 15 percent of financial sector revenue and 3 percent of employment in the City. Other estimates show similar magnitudes: £14–20 billion in revenue and 70,000 jobs lost (PWC 2016) or 83,000 jobs lost (EY 2017). According to these estimates, for the City of London the direct negative effect of Brexit on the financial sector will be a 12–18 percent loss of revenue and a 7–8 percent drop in employment, clearly significant effects.
