In this assignment as a teacher/mentor I would also identify and discuss the key factors which enabled me to develop my teaching style and influenced they way I communicates and interacts with the mentors. A teaching style includes ethical considerations, communication skills, political view points, organizational planning and execution strategies. My subject of expertise is marketing management studies and I work as a senior professor in a leading management institute where I teach final year MBA students IMC, MARKETING MANAGEEMENT and SERVICE MARKETING and my job role also includes mentoring of PHD and Junior lecturers in marketing department of institute.
TEACHER AS A MENTOR
A Mentor is an experienced individual who render his services as a believed pleader, loyal guide and coach. His prime role is to help and advises another professional’s development. A mentor is a confidant who provides perspective, helps the candidate reflect on the
competencies they are developing, and provides open and candid feedback on working styles. Mentors are people who are interested in and willing to help others to develop skills. “Mentoring is an alliance that creates a space for dialogue that results in reflection, action and learning.” In mentoring a novice or a beginner is associated with an expert who slowly modifies and shape the career as well as knowledge base of the mentor. Here my role would be to instil teaching qualities in novice teachers and prepare them as future leaders of education.
