It is observed that Australian population is producing more waste material and disposing it than earlier times. In this essay we will be discussing the reasons behind such development, its implication on the environment directly and indirectly and possible solutions to resolve the problem created by this increasing waste production. Waste production is not just a problem of Australia, it is a global problem but it is observed that in Australia this trend is growing since last couple of decades. Australia is a growing economy as mentioned in one of the texts provided and it is expected that there will be a higher production of waste products in the country, however as per the graph presented by Australian Bureau of statistics recycling and reusing of waste products is not growing with the similar speed, which is causing the concern.
Rubbish surveys which are done consecutively over the years provided some great insight in the waste production. Over the years including last year plastic is emerging out as the major source of rubbish in country, it forms 31.7 percent of rubbish formed in Australia. All though since last couple of years this percentage is dropping, still it is highest among all rubbish producing products in the country. There are different types of waste in the country like commercial and industrial waste. This primarily includes waste chemicals, metals, packaging material like plastics, metal scraps, biological waste etc. other waste type includes electronic wastes. Electronic waste includes used mobiles phones which are discarded, computers and computer parts, integrated circuits, mother boards, electrical wires, plugs, plastic components of electronic goods etc. they are a growing cause of waste in Australia because mobile devices and computers regularly upgrade their models and software thus making the previous version absolute in a few years and people tend to discard them.
