1. Discuss why obesity is a National Health Priority in Australia. (200 words)
Ans:- obesity in Australia has been described as a epidemic problem by the Australian institute of health and welfare in year 2010 itself owing to the increasing number of obesity cases in Australian population. A Recent study done by the AIHW came up with this shocking revelation that in last two decades number of obesity cases in Australia has doubled and now it is as much part of the population as it is in USA percentage wise. USA has already recognized obesity as their biggest health problem currently as well as in near future. In 2007 WHO reported that 67 percent of Australian population is overweight while 20 percent population is under the category of obesity. Obesity is a life style related disorder which give rise to various health problems like diabetes, cardiovascular disorder, hyper tension, myocardial infarction, blockages in coronary arteries, constricted movement, joint pains, lethargy, thrombosis and embolism etc. all these diseases enhances the mortality and morbidity of people and this the prime reason why obesity is a national health priority in Australia (Siobhain,2008).
