In this report, we will first be covering the introduction about Amaya. Then we will move up to find the sustainability reporting practices at Amaya. We will then extrapolate them to find the principles on which Sekara should base their sustainability reporting practices. Then at the end we concluded that technology should be used to aid their sustainability reporting framework to become robust and accurate.
Amaya Resorts and Spas always have stood for being the most stylish, forward-thinking leader in the hospitality industry in Sri Lanka. Amaya maintains a legacy about them being offering travelers an experience which talks about discoveries, explorations as well as adventures which are present under their motto “Reflections of Sri Lanka”. They are very much synonymous with innovative hospitality, as well as commit to improving and spreading the culture, nature and beauty of Sri Lanka. Their hotels are located at tourist hotspots from the beaches of Hikkaduwa spreading to the places of Nuwara Eliya (Amaya 2013).
Amaya Leisure PLC, through its subsidiaries, operates hotels in Sri Lanka at the above locations. Amaya also provides services for holding of the meetings, incentives, conferences, as well as exhibition markets. They also promote their facilities which are relating to ecotourism; as well as operate the wellness and spa outlets. Regarding Sustainability reporting, they have further refined their sustainability data measurement techniques as well as reporting frameworks by depending on the basis of calculations as well as assumptions as per the GRI 3.1 framework. Data on environmental and safety issues has been compiled from actual operating data maintained by the various businesses, factories, hotels and other units of the Group. Data on social responsibility is actually obtained on-site. In the case of partially reported indicators, Amaya have provided time lines which have been improved; as well as specifically indicated, which are committed to report every one of them in their sustainability report (Hayleys 2013).
